Yesterday marked the first day of "Gold Rush Days" - 4 days celebrating the founding of Valdez by miners looking for their fortunes in gold. As you know from a previous entry, the would be gold miners were "bamboozled" - not only was there no gold, but no one mentioned they would have to traverse a glacier to get to the supposed gold field. The really smart ones turned back, said, "Hey, these guys will need food, shelter, supplies, etc. Why get cold, scurvy and maybe dead. Let's just stay here and start the city of Valdez. We can be the founding fathers and make a buck too". It worked, and here we are today. The festivities begin with a free town dinner (ham and all the trimmings) and the crowning of the King and Queen, chosen for their contributions to the town.

Umm, what is "touch a truck" event on Saturday? Is it like "show me your bumper and I'll show you mine". Did you touch or inhale....
Your posts are just lovely.
