A Good Day

Violet went home at lunchtime - her family was so happy that she's ok and that she spent the night with us. Violet's "Mom" is lovely, and the three children are polite and sweet and love that puppy. When we got home this afternoon, we had a thank you package - including a beautiful salmon fillet and homemade smoked salmon. The best part - the cards and this wonderful photo ...

The cover says "Thank you for saving our puppy ♡
(inside) "She's the best dog ever!"

After that "feel better than good" time, we ate outside at "The Fat Mermaid". We met a very, very nice couple from Kilmarnock, VA. This was their 6th driving trip to Alaska.

These are the rest rooms at "The Mermaid" -
                                           womens -

                                          mens -

                            Her helmet was blinding ....

We drove out to Robe Lake - all was quiet (no lakemowers) so we went back to the hatchery. One more eagle photo - I don't think we'll get tired of
them.

There was a big salmon just flopping around on the rocks - it was so distressing. Jeff fought the elements (sun, 70°, gentle breezes - slippery rocks, too)
- and saved the fish. Ahhh ... a real hero.

Our landlord, John, has a yellow Vespa

so our fearless veterinarian risked life and limb to take a ride

While Jeff was gone (but not forgotten), Joey and Spike drove by

                                              Joey
BTW Joey and the Beagle who won Westminster a few years ago have the same mom. Joey was supposed to be a show dog, but was too "unbeagly" in the ring. We think Joey found his true calling.

That's incredible, a vespa with "car warning" device. Hope the vespa made it back!

Love the interior designs in the M & F. But no bear!

Take care and keep enjoying the journey.
